§ 14-503. Amendments, additions and deletions.

  • The adoption by reference of the "Standard Mechanical Code" as provided in section 14-501 herein, is made subject to and is modified and amended as follows:

    By amendments and deletions to sections and chapters of the Standard Mechanical Code as follows:

    The amendment of Chapter 1, Section 104, Test to read as follows:

    "The Mechanical official (City Code Enforcement Officer) will require tests or test reports as proof of compliance. Required Test are to be made at the expense of the owner, or his agent, by an approved testing laboratory or other approved agency. Registration Fees: $100.00. Test Fees: $50.00. Renewal per year: $50.00.

    "Information To Be Provided: An applicant for registration (License) under this section shall provide to the Code Enforcement official the following information:

    (A)

    "The complete name, complete mailing address and telephone number of the firm and corporation.

    (B)

    "The name and private mailing address of a principal of the firm or corporation who is a person authorized to bind the firm or corporation in legal agreements.

    (C)

    "The name and license identification of the Licensed individual, as provided for in section 104 of this code, through whom the person, firm or corporation is to be represented in all activities before the Code Enforcement Official."

    The amended of Chapter 2, Section 202, Definitions to read as follows:

    "Grand Fathered - A practicing licensed (City of Leesville) Electrical and a minimum of five years experience in air-conditioning, refrigeration, heating, shall be exempted for [from] Testing. One time exemption within sixty days of adoption by mayor/council of this ordinance."

    The amendment of Chapter 1, Section 101.2.4, Title and Scope to read as follows:

    " Insurance: No person shall engage in or work at any job covered by this mechanical code until such person shall have secured a license as herein provided, and shall have executed and delivered to the City of Leesville a good and sufficient bond in the penal sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00), with corporate surety conditioned for the faithful performance of all such work, entered upon or contracted for, in strict accordance and compliance with the provisions of the article. The bond herein required shall expire on the first day of January of each year a new bond, in form and substance as herein required, shall be given by such person to cover all such work as shall be done during such year."

    The amendment of Chapter 1, Section 102.7, to read as follows:

    "102.7 Responsibilities of License.

    "(A)  Operations: Licensed Contractors and/or mechanics shall be responsible for the performance of permitted work in compliance with the Standard Mechanical Code 1988 Edition before License will be issued.

    "(B)  Administration: Registrants shall be responsible for the employment of licensed personnel to perform the permitted work, and for payment of fees as required by this code."

    The amendment of Appendix "C," Schedule of permit fees, C101 Permit Fees C 101.2.4 to read as follows:

    "One-time permits for contractors who do not hold a City of Leesville License.

    "Fees:

    "(A) Residential—$400.00 one-time fee per job in addition to the regular permits and inspection fees.

    "(B) Commercial—$1,000.00 one-time fee per job in addition to the regular permits and inspection fees.

    "(C) Apartments—$300.00 one-time fee per family dwelling unit in addition to the regular permits and inspection fees."

    Section 105.3.3 shall read as follows:

    "Mechanical regulations, violations and penalties. See Section 14-200, Electrical Code."

    "Registration fees:

    Registration fees shall be $400.00."

    "Section C101:

    Repairs up to $500.00 ..... $ 8.00

    Repairs over $500.00 ..... 12.00

    A/C and heat unit:

    Two-ton ..... 10.00

    Two and one-half-ton ..... 12.00

    Three-ton ..... 13.00

    Three and one-half-ton ..... 15.00

    Four-ton ..... 17.50

    Five-ton ..... 19.50

    Over five-ton, per ton ..... 3.90

    Inspection fees ..... 20.00"

The amendments set out in § 14-503 refer to the 1988 edition of the Standard Mechanical Code. Ord. No. 5 of 2001 adopted the 2000 International Mechanical Code as the mechanical code of the city.
